Ecological Land Types within LTA 24.
ELT 24a
Soil Summary:
very deep, very gravelly fine sand over stratified sand, fine sand and gravelly coarse sand with variable lime presence, or limy silty clay throughout, no soil development; dominated by Pima County soil survey map units 66 (Redington very gravelly fine sand, 3 to 50 percent slopes) and 34 (Hantz loam, 0 to 1 percent slopes). These units comprise 51 and 46% of the ELT, respectively
Geologic Materials:
alluvium and residuum associated with old alluvium (QTs) and Cienega Creek middle to late Pleistocene terraces (Qir) which comprise 75% and 9% of the unit, respectively
Landforms:
coarsely to moderately dissected, weakly to moderately incised fan and pediment surfaces
ELT 24c
Soil Summary:
very deep; sandy loam and very gravelly sandy loam surface layers over subsurface layers ranging from extremely gravelly sandy loam to clay; lime can occur throughout, deeper in the soil profile or be totally absent; moderate to strong development (lime and clay accumulation); inclusions of limy soils that are shallow or moderately deep to cemented layers also occur; dominated by Pima County soil survey unit 78 (Stagecoach-Sahuarita association, 1 to 8 percent), 73 (Sasabe-Caralampi complex, 1 to 15 percent slopes), and 65 (Powerline-Kimrose family complex, 10 to 35 percent slopes) which make up 34%, 25% and 12% of this ELT, respectively.
Geologic Materials:
alluvium and residuum associated with sandstone, siltstone and conglomerate, undivided (QTs); old alluvium (QTs); and Pleistocene alluvium (Qi, Qi1, Qi2, Qi2p, undivided) which comprise 46%, 27% and 22% of the unit, respectively
Landforms:
coarsely dissected, weakly incised fan and pediment surfaces
