Photo Point 036
Description:
Near the Broadway trailhead for Saguaro National Park.
The dominant species are whitethorn (5-8 ft.) and foothill paloverde (8-15 ft.), together averaging 10-15% cover. Either species, however, may be locally absent. For example, at the north end of the LTA, mesquite and creosote can be dominant. Common associates shown in the photo foreground include zinnia, catclaw, and saguaro. Perennial bunchgrass cover ranges from 1-10%, typically composed of spider grass, fluff grass, and bush mulhy. Watercourses can be dense with catclaw, whitethorn, and Mexican crucillo.
