Photo Point 034
Description:
Twin Hills Alluvium and Pediment
The small shrubs Zinnia and paperflower, along with prickly pear, dominate the foreground, with whitethorn (6-10 ft) and foothill paloverde (6-13 ft.) in the background. This site is less than a mile from the cactus forests of Saguaro National Park, yet saguaro is uncommon except at the southern exent of the LTA. In the center of the LTA, creosote bush, octoillo, mesquite, and saguaro are notably lacking. Mesquite and creosote are common near this LTA’s northern frontier with the floodplain of the Tanque Verde Wash.
